How to make an appointment to see one of our endocrinologists

Appointments are made through a referral from your family doctor, nurse practitioner or another specialist. Once the referral is received, our office assistant will contact you or your referring clinician's office with an appointment date and time.

How to prepare for your visit

Please bring with you to each appointment:

1. BC Care Card

2. List of current medications

If you have diabetes mellitus, please also bring:

1. Diabetic log book and/or glucose monitoring device

2. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system

3. Insulin pump

We encourage you to link  your diabetic device (CGM and/or pump) to our clinic for seamless downloading of data.  We would be pleased to provide you with information on how to connect your device with our clinic.

How to prepare for a virtual health visit

Most patients we are meeting for the first time will be booked in person but we recognise that sometimes a virtual appointment may be required.  We are able to see patients virtually on Zoom through a secure connection established by the Provincial Health Services Authority of British Columbia.

Before you can be invited to a virtual health visit, our team will ask you some questions to see if this option is right for you.

1. Do you have a reliable internet connection and a smartphone, tablet or computer?

2. Are you comfortable with technology in general? (i.e. using email or video conferencing)

3. Do you understand the possible risks of using digital communications?

After you let us know that you will be using Zoom, we will email you an invitation to the appointment.

How to prepare for a good Zoom virtual health visit

1. Test your camera, speakers, and microphone before a virtual health visit by using the automated Zoom Meeting Test

2. Find a private space with good internet connection

3. Make sure the space has good lighting so your health care team can see your face

4. Be prepared to answer a few questions and confirm your identity at the start of each visit

5. Write down questions you want to ask your health care provider ahead of time

6. Face the camera and speak clearly

7. Have a back-up plan with your health care team (e.g. using phone call instead) in case there are technical problems

You can invite a family member or friend with you.  Please introduce them at the start of the visit.  If someone is joining your visit in person and they are not in the camera view, please let your health care provider know.  If your virtual health visit does not meet your needs, you can stop it at any time and reschedule as a telephone or in-person appointment.
